Re: wierd battery dying

Does the lights in the dash also go dead?
What's the issue about the fan?
Any other accessory problems?
Running different?
Describe..

Re: wierd battery dying

lights stay on. fan just don't come on. one time it runs like a stripped a** ape then the next time i start it stumbles all over itself. it is a brand new jasper 305 and i put everything new on this car / motor. i think it is just jinxed!

Re: wierd battery dying

Ok, the lights staying on while it refuses to crank obviously means it isn't the battery, it's a starter or a wiring issue.
Fan; does the car ever overheat? Do you have A/C? What t-stat do you run?
No offense, but I think the jinx is hiding in the lack of attention to detail & reasoning.

Re: wierd battery dying

Ok, so that's what's up. It might not neccessarily be overheating because if the cap is not able to keep the pressure in then the water will boil prematurely, perhaps even before it reaches the temperature that the fan is set to turn on at. Check or replace cap, and if that fails then try to get a temperature measurement. The fan has a relay. Grounding the control wire should turn it on. Do a search to find a wiring diagram. If you can get a log (or a scan) done on the ECM while the engine is running, it should also tell you if the ECM actually measures the actual temperature, plus other operating parameters. Maybe there's something wrong with the temp sensor for the ECM.
