Removing Old Code Alarm Elite.
This unit is old. Org. from 1992 i think. was installed by 1st owner. I can unplug batt. and plug back in and car still starts. i think it's disabled? brain for system is under lower dash. has 1 large plug, 1 med plug and some small plugs. It's the elite series. lots of wires. i already removed the alarms horn. now stereo doesn't work. want to remove the alarm completely and upgrade to new head unit.
Any input?

Re: Removing Old Code Alarm Elite.
my condolences....
working on somebody else's mess is one the worst things that can happen. i dont know much about code but if it was installed properly there should be some type of starter kill relay so after you remove everything u would need to hook that back up, as far as the radio not turning on have u checked your fuses? If i were you i wouldnt just unplug the brain and leave the wires i would follow each wire back to where it was tapped and make sure you remove everything, the more wires the better chance of shorts. Plus it will give u a chance to see if any of the wiring is damaged and to make sure ur getting the whole thing out
