Power Rear View Mirror In My 85?

I own an 85 Z28 and I have access to a power rearview mirror out of an 87 IROC.

The only issue is the rearview mirror setup in my 85 in the standard two way mirror with no goodies. Just a plain old mirror. Would I be able to wire the power rearview up somehow and if so how? The mirror uses a (I believe) 3 pin connector.

You might search. A while ago your question came up from time to time. I'm using a **** mirror in my 85 (self dimming, temp, compass). It was more work running the wiring down the A pillar than anything else--and yes, you will break some of the clips if your car is a coupe.

I'm not sure if this mirror tells temperature or not. But if my assumptions are correct, all the self dimming features are handled by the mirror itself? Is it possible I could "hijack" power for it from the overhead console?

No temp on the stocker. The mirror dims automatically (if it works). I'm clueless on the wiring, though I seem to recall that one wire is hooked to the reverse lights (plus ground and hot, pure guess).

Digging this post up from the dead just to say, It's incredible how much things can change over the years.

I stumbled across this while searching about power mirrors since I'm going with a non self dimming map lighted mirror and didn't even know I had posted it until I saw the username.
