Cars wont start
I just baught 2 v6 firebirds both suffering with the same problem.
one is an 90 and the seconds one is a 95. The problem is when i go to turn the key nothing happens, security light blinks at me non-stop. Ive done some digging in the 95s wiring harness found an old viper alarm and spme bad fuses, all of which has been removed and replaced. Still nothing. I jumped a hot wire of the battery into the starter while spraying carb cleaner in the intake and started up just fine aslong as the carb cleaner was there...then it died again.
I havnt started trying to fix the 90 yet, in the cause i dont want to spend a crap load of money on it to find out everything i replace is fine. I seem to do that on my 92 camaro as is <<;;
any suggestions?

Re: Cars wont start
Do the keys for these cars have the VATS chips on them? I wonder if that's the key to the problem? Occasionally if my key gets dirty, thats what happens, and it won't start until i clean it off. I doubt your problem is that easy to fix, but I'd suspect it may be something with that.

Yep, thats VATS. The key you are putting in doesn't match what the car was set for, so it won't start.

Re: Cars wont start
i got a vats/passkey 2 bypass module but i dont quite understand what im wiring it into...help!!!
Re: Cars wont start
theres 2 white wires running from your ignition lock down under your steering column.those are the 2 wires that touch both sides of the chip on your key. you'd cut those wires under the column and connect your bypass to that
