Best way to dissconect power antenna

My power antenna gets stuck making a "whirring" noise which eventually drains the battery.

I need to disconnect it somehow so I don't have to disconnect my battery every time i shut the car off!

Any ideas? do i have to pull the fender off to get at the antenna motor?

IIRC, the connector for the antenna motor is located near the pass. side kick panel if you remove the dash pieces under the map pouch. There are three wires coming from the antenna. You should be able to just disconnect it there. What also works is open the fender well cover on the pass. side while the antenna is up, and just cut those three wires and properly insulate all ends.

extremely simplistic way. turn radio on, let antenna go up if it does. cut the remote wire off. either at antenna or off the back of the radio. the remote off the radio makes the power antenna active whenever the radio is on

The remote trigger wire should be blue. The other two should be power and ground. I know on most models that the PWR ANT has its own seperate fuse, check the fuse panel first before you cut any wires, you might be able to let the mast go up first then pull the fuse. They did it this way in case the mast was broken off, then the motor would get stuck trying to run the mast up and over heat the radio.

That's what I was getting at with the cutting, if he just wanted the antenna permanently up.

On my car, the antenna runs off of the same fuse as the horn, int. lights, power locks, power windows, etc. etc. and the same fuse as the radio itself. Pulling either fuse would disable quite alot of functions. Disconnecting the radio connector or even cutting the wires to the motor with the antenna up isolates it.
