I have a 90 iroc-z and it wont crank intermittently. I changed the starter and silinoid. Still has same issue. Some Days it'll start for like weeks then wont for a day or a few mins. I read some info on vats since my keys have a chip but both are clean. How do i either 1) bypass this vats thing 2) get a pic on where its located and how to clean it. 3) Where this purple wire is that leads to the silinoid and how do i check it. As you can already tell i don't know to much about cars but i really wana start to learn and this problem is kind of a pain.

 

had the same problem myself, but everything i checked was good - and that was going thru the service manual procedures. turns out my battery was on its way out the door. new battery = sure start. so far. no guarantee's, but no problems since, either. batt's can do wierd things, besides that it outlived it's 5-year life expectancy anyways. just a thought and not to say your problem lies elsewhere, but might want to check that.

 

i have had this goign on for a long time now then last month it finlay didnt wanat to start, the wire that go's to the keys chip broke so i need to geta lock cylinder or u can just sue a spar key and un plug it at the base of the coulom lol that what i did till i get the new lock.
