ALDL Cable problems.. firebird

Why isnt that cable working on an 1994 Firebird LT1..
TTS Datamaster says that the com1 is ready and cable ready, but when the car is started and the "start" button is pushed it goes some seconds and then it says "PCM ERROR 1"...

Ive tried that cable in my 1989 Camaro and it worked well in tts datamaster.. (yes we have downloaded the right version of tts datamaster to the firebird to)..

That should work right, the firebird uses the same 8192 BAUD on pin M right ? Or shall I remove the 10k resistor to make it work ?..

If i look at akmcables they sell the same cable to 89camaros and 1994 firebirds.. so I figure thats the same cable inside too then..

any ideas of why it isnt working ?

Re: ALDL Cable problems.. firebird

removed the 10k resister and connected the B terminal directly instead.
Now when the cable is connected the fans starting and the SES light comes on.. still no connection to the ECM

why ?! shouldnt that work ? now when we removed the 10k resistor from B-A and only connected the B without any resistor..

any help is appreciated

Re: ALDL Cable problems.. firebird

IIRC 1994 & 1995 are (excuse my french) Bastard years for OBD1. Although they still fall under the Tech 1 platform some cars got a 12 pin (old OBD 1 type) and others got an 16 pin (OBD 2 type) but it was still running OBD1 wireing.

To top it all off some cars also got some extended data streams that were not on previous OBD1 type systems and create havoc with basic run of the mill Data readers and normal pinouts to have the flashing dash light for codes.

Its not all clear but that might be part of the problem.
