Let me explain my situation. I am in the military based out of Ft Stewart, GA. However, I am currently working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center helping our young warrior's with their stay here in DC (liaison between the soldier and his/her unit).

Problem: I watched my son drive my 88 Camaro down the street. When he arrived at his friends graduation somebody stopped him and told him the tail lights don't work. Sure enough, I checked them and they don't work.

Measures Taken: Since this happened right before I had to come back to DC, I didn't have much time to troubleshoot this. However, we tried changing the fuse and as soon as you turn the lights on it blows immediately. We pulled both tail light housing to check the bulbs and the harness and nothing. Both bulbs are brand new, the harness is not pinched at the housing atleast.

Please help!!!! I would like to have a car that I can drive at night. What ever advice will have to be relayed between me and my best friend to see if it works.

nobody can solve this it seems

 

Just for reference (I realize this is a very old post), the TAIL fuse powers both, the rear tail lights and the front park lamps. It could be a front socket causing a short.
