90 to 84 guage swap
90 to 84 guage swap
can take the 90 dash and guage package out and put it in my 84. the 90 has a 6 and the 84 has an 8. what am i up against. i want to loose the useless 85mph spedo and at least put something a little taller in it. remember in 84 speed was 55 now its just a suggestion and i dont want to get nailed passing someone in a quick heartbeat because this stroker pegs the nail in a quickie. any help would be usefull.

Not without major modification--moreover, the 90 speedo would be electric, the 84 mechanical. By the way, mentioning the make and model of your car is useful. If it's a Camaro, why not find a 110 or a 140 cluster (mechancial through 89, which means it'll fit your car as a simple swap)?

in 86, the birds changed to an electric speedo. Do a search, i know that the swap is common and you should be able to find info as to what is needed. Also if you are changing the entire cluster, you will need to re-pin the harness because that part is different as well.
