Re: Police Siren
Wait, I gotta wonder, but I'm pretty sure this is VERY illegal?
I remember people in town putting ones in their cars, and when they got caught, the car was taken from them, and they spent time behind bars.

Just do a Google search and you'll find all kinds of stuff, and it depends on how much you want to spend. Check the laws of your state. As long as you don't break any laws or impersonate any police, fire, public safety, etc., you should be OK. But be warned, in today's society, one complaint of you acting inappropriately and you could find yourself fined, jailed or both. Your actions will determine the response. You decide if it's worth it.

Re: Police Siren
HAVING one is not illegal...Its in HOW YOU USE IT that is.
Get behind someone & turn it on? Regardless of the type of car your in, you just impersonated an officer in an unmarked car.
When I had my purple 92 Camaro with 2 full length stripes, I got lots of hassle.....because of my red lights. I was a volunteer firefighter, so I needed them to respond to the station. As time passed, the areas I drove through, the cops became familiar with seeing my car, and the "hassling" stopped.
Sometimes, you can have certain "police" items, as long as you use them (or not use them) appropriately. I still have 2 head light wig wag units!

Re: Police Siren
Code 3 is the best, same as used by the police but very pricey......
I had a 92 B4C ex-Indiana State Police car. When I got it at the auction, I paid an extra cash sum under the table to the garage they had it at to leave the antennas and lights in the car. I only turned them on at cruise nights when the car was parked or at shows. The local officers actually loved the car and one of them eventually bought it from me (wish I never sold it)
So it is not illegal to have them, just to use them.
I did however drive the car to a show in Niles, MI and I got pulled over by a State Patrol car and he wrote me tickets for having the lights in the windows even though they were not on. this got dropped when I went in front of the judge, but he was still being a a$$, so I just decided to not go to that show anymore.

Really, volunteer firefighters, such as my brother, has blue lights, infact they all do in Indiana, and they are the only ones with them. He still has to obey signals and such, but most cars will let him thru w/o hassle.
Some states I know wont allow even firefighters to run ANY lights which is redicilous.
