VATS Question

What is the easiest and cheapest recourse for someone to get a key made for a car that has VATS, but no key or a way of knowing what resistance the module needs to start the car?

I'm not concerned with the VATS system, and have seen things on ebay that can plug in to eliminate it.......but you still have to know the resistance of the resistor.

Is there a way to test the module?

Take the title to any GM dealer and they will fix you up--and charge you accordingly--used to be $21 several years ago. You used to just have to give them the VIN# but it was too easy for thieves to do that.

If you don't care about having VATS, use the search function here as there is plenty of info n disabling it, and you can visit http://vatssucks.com.
