battery,starter,or??????

I got in the car today and all dash lights worked including the dome light, I turned the key to start the car and it made a "click" sound and that was that!! No start or even a part of a crank...NOTHING!! The car actually WENT STONE COLD DEAD!!!!!!! the dome light and everything was just dead. I had the battery teated and they said it was gone. So I just replaced the battery , That did no good. Could it be the starter...or ??? Has anyone experienced this before?

Re: battery,starter,or??????

Could be the battery cables. I've seen them oxidize inside out. Especially if you have aftermarket cables.

You can get down under the car and test the voltage on the starter posts. If you see 12V on the main post with all the wires, it's not your battery and it might be the fusible links. Try playing with them and see if it corrects the problem. In which case you'd need to replace them.
You can also follow the power to the fuse box. If you have power on the starter but not in the fusebox, it's likely the fusible links.

Hope this helps.
