Brake Warning Light

On the way to work today my brake warning light comes on. It doesn't just turn on and stay on it is flickering while going over bumps and then down the road it comes on and stays on. Havent done any breaking once it started, was on an on ramp getting on the highway. It stays on the entire way to work. Breaks are working just fine. Pedal is a little spongy but it has been like that for quite a while. Beak function has not changed a bit. Got to work and check fluids and they are fine. No leaks around the wheels anywhere. Drove home and it stayed lit but when I hit a bump it would flicker and stay on. Looked around the site and have tried a few things. Pulled the wire off the proportioning valve and light stays on. Now to check the e-brake switch. Since I am building a KITT replica I have my lower console built on there so I dont want to take this all apart just yet. Did read on here that the hatch won't work with the car running unless the parking brake is set. Turned the car on and tried to pop the hatch and it opened. So is this a good assumption that it is just the parking brake switch? Sorry for the long post but wanted everyone to know everything that has happened and everthing that I have tried to get the best possible answer to my problem. Thanks for any help anyone is willing to give. Also have read about reseting the proportioning valve by pushing some button. I can't find anything like that. On the front and back there are rubber caps covering something but not buttons. Just looking for some info on that part of the system.

Re: Brake Warning Light

You have a 700R4, the hatch won't open if you're not in park. It has nothing to do with the parking brake.

Re: Brake Warning Light

Sorry I did forget to mention that I did put the car into drive with the brake pressed and the hatch still popped. Would this have something do to with the brake light being on? Before any of this if I was working on my car and had it running and needed to pop the hatch it would not pop so I had to use my alarm remote to pop it while running. Now with the car running in park or in gear, any gear just went out and tried it with and without the brake pressed. Kind of interesting driving around the parking lot poping the hatch while driving.

Re: Brake Warning Light

Okay, I did get a little more figured out still not sure what exactly is causing it but it has nothing to do with the proportioning valve or the e-brake wire. Disconnected them both and light stayed on. I did notice that when I poped the hood the light flickered. Got to tapping on things and noticed that if I push up on the fuse block under the dash the light goes out. Let go and it comes back on. Things will have to wait until Sunday but figured I will unbolt the fuse block and look on top of it if possible to see what might be causing it.

Also if I push up on the fuse block and the light goes out, with the car running in park the hatch will not pop. Anyone have an idea on what might be causing this from the fues block? I will let everyone know what I find out when I get the chance to look.
