Replacing broken turn signal lever on 87 GTA

I have a broken turn signal lever. Well what is actually broken is the lever for the windshield washer. It's broken where it goes into the steering wheel column. Do I have to remove the steering wheel to remove the turn signal lever?

You do not need to remove the steering wheel unless you need to replace the switches. The switches are located inside the column. The stalk/lever simply plugs into the side of the column to activate those switches inside the column.

You either pull straight out, or you have to push-in while turning towards the driver seat to remove the stalk/lever. I cannot recall which.

However, a warning. Since you likely have cruise control, the cruise control switch is located on the end of the stalk/lever and connects to a wire harness inside the column. You will have to fish the cruise control wires through.

Yes it has cruise control. Does this make a difference in pulling the turn signal lever out.

You do not need to remove the steering wheel and should not if you're simply replacing the cruise control/wiper/washer/turn signal stalk/lever.

In fact, I just found a recent post by a member that probably explains it pretty good:

Pretty much the same thing I downloaded from Autozone. This one was more detailed though.
