Okay, I am a little upset from what I think is a designer FLAW... The wiring loom under the dash right next to the Fuse Panel got Sliced and Fried. The Loom is set up right next to a steel Dash Frame/reinforcement...

Well, after time, the loom was sliced by the metal brace. After Disassembling the dash, I finally got to the wiring mess. I seperated all the good wires from the bad. The Bad wired are all fried and melted together so... I matched the colors, spliced and crimped the wires back together... Now this is where I need your help...

After doing most of the wires, I am left with 4... A 2 Larger Orange wires and 2 Small wires on the other side. What are they for? I cant fine any wires to match with the huge orange wire on one side... Nor the 2 small orange ones on the other side. Anyone know if they all splice together, or if they are even used at all? I am lost. Someone please help or show me a diagram of all the wires please.

Does anyone think that the wires connect to eachother and not even connect to the other side?

The thick orange/black wire is the wire that feeds power from the power acc. circuit breaker that powers the door lock relay power seat relay and rear defrost.
On my car the small wires have black lines on them too and they tie together at a black plastic plug
But yours may be diffrent

Do the 2 Thick Wires connect to eachother? Are they necessary? And also, The 2 Small wires are solid orange any idea as to where they connect to and what they do?

I may decide to by pass the wires if they aren't major. The rear defrost never worked and I have to hit the door lock button like 5 times before it locks anyways. I Also do not have electric seats eithers, so it sounds like I may bypass it...

Yes the 2 thick wires go together. I am not sure but my service manual shows that the small orange wires run the cigar lighter dome light and horn and power antenna and hazzard flashers, hatch release, power mirrors and should connect to the wire that goes to the CSTY fuse in the fuse block. It shows all the 18 gauge orange wires in that area too be connected together but im not sure how they hook together.
I will keep looking and let you know if i find out more.

 

Interesting...that is a good possibility although I am almost sure all of it worked before. I know there were quite a few small orange wires. Are there any other possibilities like the Radio?

The problem I had with the wiring was my tail lights wouldn't work and hazzards, Dash lights, and my Radio didn't work. All of this was because of blown fuses...because of the short. Everything else worked fine.

I would say that I fixed about 10+ wires though, so im not quite sure. Seems like with all the fried wires, I should have had alot more problems...

 

The book also shows that the same wires go to the radio to feed the digital clock memory and the power antenna so maybe thats what there for. I will try to look in my car in the morning and let you know for sure.

One solution could be to cap them and see what doesn't work.

Yeah, but I really do not want to take my dash apart again as it is already old and brittle and more and more tabs keep breaking off. I think I might connect them put it back together and see if it works, if not ill get pliers and disconnect them and plug them...

Lets see if I can get another good answer as to what they are for and where they connect to. I really do not want to pull it all apart again...

Okay, after further inspection, I found the connector to the medium sized orange striped wire. Now I have a Large Orange Stripe on one side and 2 small solid orange wires on the other side. As I stand right now, here is what works and what doesn't
I have quite a few switches removed and such.

What is still wrong?
Fuses are all good still
Only the 2 outside lights work on both tail lights, Hazzards do not work, Blinkers (worked before I started the electrical), Radio (gets power, but doesn't turn on)...

Please tell me what needs to be hooked up for what accesories to work.
