left blinkers wont blink

I have an 88 camaro that I just took all apart to paint and change out the carpet and seats. so every part of interior has been taken apart and just about every part of the body has been taken off. now that i have painted and re-assembled it, the left blinkers dont blink, they just stay solid when you turn on the blinkers.
  • all lights flash with hazzards on
  • i have taken all lights out and changed them with the right side= no change
  • the right side blinkers work fine
  • with the head lights on, all running lights work like they should but if i turn on the left blinkers the front and rear turn signals stay solid and the left side marker goes out all together.
  • i have followed as many wires *** possible and cant find any loose grounds or anything.
i am at a loss of new things to try to get the left blinkers to work the way they should, and i feel like i am missing somthing simple. any help would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance
David Unger

Re: left blinkers wont blink

Have you changed the flasher unit under the dash? its a $5 dollar part that regulates the flashers. Don't usually see it affect just one side, but if you know the bulbs are good than that would be the next thing. Not flashing on one side usually means a bad bulb, but you seem to have eliminated that possibility.

Re: left blinkers wont blink

I have had a few cars that would only blink on one side and it turned out to be the turn signal flasher. Wouldnt think it would do it but it does.

Re: left blinkers wont blink

I just got mine fixed,my passenger side would'nt blink.I turned on the blinker and checked to see if I got power back there, and it was'nt.It turned out their was a short in the middle where the console is.Under the shifter plate.Their is also a short finder you hook up little aligator type clips to the circuit in question tothe fuse box. it has a little battery to send power through the cicuit. Then you have a little meter that you run along the wires and detects where the short is.You can get it on Classic Industies.I hope this helps you because mine was driving me crazy.

If the right side flashes it's not the flasher unit.
Bad bulb, bad socket, bad contacts or bad wires.

Re: left blinkers wont blink

i got it all straightened out. i turned on the head lights and turned the flashers on at the same time and noticed that my front left turn signal was not blinking. so i changed the bulb with a brand new one and it worked just fine. when i pulled both of the front bulbs before i must not have switched them. thanks for the help guys!!
