Hi Beam light help
Hey there.
Everything seems to be working fine on my formula less the acctuator motor for the driver headlight, it goes when it wants to.
Im curious, im pretty sure that im supose to have the ability to turn on my high beams but nothing happends when i pull back on the switch. the turn signals work, the wipers work, the cruise works but no hi beam not even the light on the dash.
could it be the lever itself or the collum?
Thanks

Re: Hi Beam light help
Could be the hi/lo beam switch is out of adjustment.
Have you tried lowering/raising the steering wheel and switching the beams? If that helps, the switch definitely needs to be adjusted.
Tech article right here: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=16
Hope this helps.

Re: Hi Beam light help
when u pull back in the lever do you feel any resistance or does it just seem loose? I ask because i had the same issue which i just resolved and it turned out to be the little plastic piece that gets pushed by the lever which pushes the metal rod that goes down the column into the high beam switch.

Re: Hi Beam light help
Hi, I got the same problem with my light switch except the rop is in tack witht he switch its the multi-function control arm something went loose from it and now the arm isn't being pushed back. The problem is something what was described bellow. I had some plastic part that fell out when I opened up behind the multi-function control arm. See the images attached to see what I am talking about.
*Sorry for the low quality images take with a phone.
Top view you can see the metal rob showing bellow the wires my finger touching it:
Metal bar upclose you can see it bending upward and nothing is touching it:

Here are the parts from behind the arm and little plastic part in the middle:

I cant get around the arm switch to see where the little plastic part goes back anyone know the solution?
P.S. if I push on the rod it will switch between hi/lo beam but for the inspection it woun't pass...
Any help welcome.

Re: Hi Beam light help
Been there, done that. The source of the problem is in the first picture, which is the pin/bushing
unit sticking up. This prevents the pieces in the last picture from seating
properly, which is absolutely imperative for the plastic push-rod to move
the metal shaft properly. If memory serves me correctly, this is part of the tilt
mechanism & didn't appear to be easily servicable. I wound switching out the
entire column. Definitely not one of GM's better ideas.

If you can't find a junk-yard replacement, there's a guy in MI who specializes
in third-gen stuff, and is very reasonably priced.
Good luck, if you haven't already solved the issue.
