key out, everything stays on
I'm not sure if its an ignition switch or not, but someone might know here. I'll turn on the engine and everything runs fine. Turn the key to the off position and everything stays running and a small "beep" comes on. The wiring is stock except for a few things I've added, but I've never had the dash apart. Had an msd ignition setup before and everything ran fine. The new stuff is really no different.
thanks,
thanks,

Re: key out, everything stays on
I double checked my wiring last night and I'm 99.999% sure I wired everything correctly in the engine bay.
I did some more searching and found that an "acuator rod" controls the ignition swtich from the key cylinder. I wonder if my rod is out of adjustment for some reason? Like I said, the car starts perfect, fires right up and idles fine (a little more tuning to be perfect), and the battery guage reads good.
Except everything stays running when I turn the key to off and pull it out.
I'm going to drop the column next chance I get and take a look around. I should be able to turn the key and watch the rod move on the switch right?

Re: key out, everything stays on
It was the ignition switch. $12 from advance auto and the problem was solved. It wasn't the easiest thing to replace, but it wasn't terrible. If you have small hands it would probably be easier! I did not have to pull the steering wheel. Drop the steering column and the switch sits right on top. There are 3 screws, 2 8mm and 1 phillips head. The high beam switch is mounted using the same screws so be careful moving it out of the way. I left the key in and turned to the "acessories" location, like the directions said. Unplug the old on and take note where the switch is positioned. Adjust the new one to the same position and install. Before you bolt the column back up make sure all the positions of the key work and the dimmer switch works too.
