camaro starting issues
hey im pretty sure nobody knowns whats going on but here we go. I have a 84 camaro berlinetta and every once and awhile i will drive it and shut it off, get back in and i try to turn it over and nothing no starter click no sound nothing. when you turn the key the dash turns off (i have a electronic dash) until you let off of the key then everything comes back on. But get this, It has been doing this for awhile and my buddy was with me and jokingly pulls my e_brake and says "now try it!" and it worked.. now so far every time it does it i pull the e-brake up and try and start it it works, then put the e-brake back down.. my e-brake isnt even hooked up. but someow works like a charm. i have a new battery new starter new wires new ignition switch new neutrul saftey switch. still does this.. any help would be great!

I'm not going to chase down the bug - but I remember something from a long time ago when I read your post,.......... If I find the wiring diagram I'll post it for Ya' !
I was trying to test hatch releases to be sure the one I had sold was working. When attempting to get the hatch solenoid to work I found it was dead and couldn't understand why. Once I chased down all the wiring I found that it has something to do with the starter. Once I attached the starter to the system - the hatch solenoid worked. I believe that this is true ONLY on the automatic tranny cars. Was your cars tranny converted ??
Edit:
Found it - Learn what you can !

awesome il try and track this down thanks for the help! Re: camaro starting issues
same thing happen in my 91 as electrical or not most guages move when the key goes forward. turns out the ignition was shot. don't rely on those little tricks such as the emergency brake as the next time it will be when you have to get somewhere. fix it asap.
