Man that looks pretty good. Any chances of getting a better quality pic?
well one of 2 way will make it, 1 i find the programing to my digi, or 2 my friends comes over and lets me use his digi.......either way i hope to have a better pic of it....
umm yea scratch that last message LOL, i just went to replace the bulb in mine and take a pic, and realized i have no bulbs in its size, but i will leave you with this, its a LED light i put in my center console, its wired to the dash lights, it really helps to find stuff at night, all it is, is a white led from rat shack, got a resistor and a led holder for it, looks good, works and its bright, pics you really cant tell....i used the hole thats inthe console from the factory, i think its the hole that the adjuster for the center console clock went, so if you got the center console tic toc than you need to drill another
hole
how do I replace my console light with leds? would bulb did you use?
i think my console light fell inside the console
My GTA has the light there, but it's not LED. It has a red bulb in it to match the switches and gauges. I really don't understand the purpose of the light since the heater/ac and stereo controls are backlit. Maybe it's meant to provide a little light for the ashtray.
I with my T/A had this light. I swapped in a Monsoon Stereo so I could play CD's but none of the buttons are lit, only the display...I can't see what I'm trying to do on it without turning on one of map lights or the dome light.

make one, get a red LED and not a white one, problem solved......but i think the red will not provide the light you need
This is going to annoy the hell out of me. I just went to see my car two weekends ago and I didn't even know these lights exsisted... didn't look. I haven't noticed anything while driving it, but it may be burned out or U didn't see the light.
Could my car have it? I hope it does!
Options are:
T-tops,
Power windows,
Power locks,
Power hatch,Daul reading lamp mirror (w/ map light that comes on when running lights/headlights come on),
Defrost (rear),
F41/Z28 handling/rims.
No power seats.
I won't see my car again until April most likely.

Reason: More info...
The light is OE--at least on Camaros of this vintage. A search will provide a ton of info.

Where is all this INFO? I'm not finding anything. If anyone knows any links or finds info, please post the links. I want to know if my car has this or not. It's amazing how popular this little light is! There's probably people all across the US running out their cars and looking for these little lights like little kids running out to see what Santa brang on Christmas day!

Once you take off the 2 screws does the housing pop off? I have the two screws in the location mentioned, but I can't tell if a light is in there or not. I removed the screws and the piece still seemed pretty tight in place.

push foward or pull back on it, look in my pics of the conversion you can see it has a tab on it to hold it in also
Both previous posts are just what I did to get mine out. That light tends to get stuck after years of not knowing it was even there. But being very patient and careful to remove it is very important.

Put in an L.E.D. this weekend I bought to replace the standard glass bulb. The bright white one worked really well. I also bought a red one and that was a more subtle ambient light that worked great with my red interior. The L.E.D.'s were direct plug in without any modifictation. The only thing you need to do is make sure you install it on the right polarity. If the light does not go on when you turn on the parking or headlights, you need to remove the bulb and rotate it. http://www.ledlight.com/t5-74-automo...ed-lights.aspx
The reason all cars have the two screws is they also hold a metal bracket used for securing the center part of the dash. if you remove the dash pad itself, you can access the top of the light, if it's there, without having to remove it from the lower side and possibly breaking it. I use the metal bracket to hold my gps antenna under the dash. My car also has the light.
For some reason or another, that doesn't seem to apply with the 90-92 cars. . .The whole light assembly just snaps into place. There's no screws at all. Probably to avoid cracking plastic. I have a 90 which was missing when I bought it- just a big gaping hole- and pulled one out of a 91 or 92 car at a junkyard.

This might sound dumb but im a new person and i was wondering if u guys could tell me where all of the lights are for those little spots like under the vent and inside the vents
I'd just like to confirm that the 89 Camaro RS does indeed have the light.
My '86 Z does NOT have a lamp above the HVAC controls. There is no lamp any where under the dash pad. The only lamp for the HVAC is the 194 bulb that backlights the control panel. What I do have is a dome light with two push button lights that are aimed towards the lower part of the dash which I think are usually refered to as map lights.
its seems to be very unclear what options gave you this light to light up the ash trey area
i did see one time at a j/y a neat light, it has a fiber optic tube plugged into the shift indicator, and then connected to the ash try its self to light it up
my 84 T/A does not have a light above the HVAC controls. While those controls are backlit, I retrofitted a 2000 Camaro radio into my 84 T/A and it's controls are not lit at all...so doing anything with the radio at night is guess work. which means that I will probably be fitting a light there some day.
89RS_82Z What size is the led light 3mm or 5mm I only find Blinking led light in ebay please help. I have a question is it possible to put led lights with a regular autozone switch in siri mode I'm planning to put 2 in the hatch area and one in each side of the of the driver and passenger side like the courtesy lights in my 92 Firebird so that would be 4 lights running siri mode. If so what do I need Sorry for all the questions thanks.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i had my dash apart and noticed my '91 GTA has a hole in the center bezel for a light but no light or pigtail is there (unless someone buried out of site). Anyone have a pic of the stock light that would be in the 90-92 firebirds. TIA

The later Firebirds have a light in the mirror that comes on with the exterior lighting, to illuminate the shifter area. One side under the mirror is the Map light, the other is the night illumination. The light shines through a small slit in the bottom of the housing
I needed to repair my broken shift indicator on my console.
Somebody pushed to hard and broke the melted fastner tab so it need a reglue.
When I removed it I found what looks to be a ashtray "fiber optic" light.
First one I have ever seen! Only seen the lights in the base of the center vents before.

But... There is a lamp module that fits the hole in the middle bottom of the accessory switch panel on 90-92 Firebirds, it's just redundant. Probably why most 90-92 Firebirds don't have the lamp or the wiring for it. It does exist though, and some Firebirds have (had?) it. It's just a 1/4 turn lock, self contained bulb with a red plastic lens. The bulb can't be replaced, and it doesn't put out enough light to worry about.
