Bulldog security! Got some questions?

So I was at O'Reily's today and was looking around and found a Bulldog Security Remote start with keyless Entry pretty cheap. I've been wanting to get keyless entry and remote start in my car for the past year. I just wondering about how good Bulldog is and how easy is would be to hook it up my self?

but seriously though, its not that bad. I've never had any experience with Bulldog but I've never heard much bad (beside the above) from them. I suggest you get it. You WONT regret it...

Re: Bulldog security! Got some questions?

If it's not too pricey, you can't go wrong. I've had Bulldog on two cars for 10 years, no problems so far. A friend of mine actually dropped one of the remotes in the ocean, we rinsed it with clean water and it keeps on working, like a charm.

Most alarms are easy to hook up and come with a separate fuse too.
Pay attention to some details like:
- does the park lamp circuit require an extra relay?
- are the door lock outputs positive or negative?
- does it come with a relay for ignition?

I'm sure there are other questions, I just can't think of them this early on a Sunday morning.

Hope this helps.
Lou

Well I turned out not to get it. I when on the web and read about the one I was going to buy and found out that I'd have to get a few extra things and it was not the best model. I'm a DIY guy but I'm most likely going to get a Viper system at best buy and have them put it in and then customize it when I get it home.

NO...I would NOT take your car to Best Buy...unless you personally know and trust the guy installing it for you... It is not a good idea to have them install it. I was able to install my kit a year or two ago when I first got my Trans Am and barely getting into the hobby. Its not hard at all to install, just time consuming. FYI

Re: Bulldog security! Got some questions?

I know two of the guys at best buy but not sure if I could make it so that one of them did it. Anyway so I took your advice and when on Viper and type in my Zip code and it pulled up this custom shop a few miles from me. Thought "yea there going to sell it for the same cause there a local/small shop." but I got my hope up found they have a website and they sell a brand new Viper Security Alarm System / Remote Start System for $249.95 w/ free shipping while best buy wants $400 w/ "free" install. I'm going to get the custom shop one.

Also anyone know of any good threads with installing a Viper system would be great, even tho i'm sure it will come with it's own textbook.

Re: Bulldog security! Got some questions?

yeah, they usually come with their own books and such. Its not hard at all...time consuming but not hard. What I did when I installed my remote start, keyless entry is the night or days before, got the manual and went through it and made side notations in the install guide about what kind/color wire to look for and where it would be. I think I got an interior wiring diagram here on TGO. And just got to it.... If you do decide to install yourself....I highly highly recommend removing your driver seat for the install. And just go ahead and remove the underdash kickpanels so nothing gets in your way... prepare to spend between 2-4 solid hours...Good luck!
