pulling power to hardwire GPS...
I have an 85 z28, and a garmin nuvi.
On ebay and amazon, someone makes the cord that hardwires to the car, and steps down the 12v to 5 or so volts. another option is to hardwire another cig lighter behind the dash, and plug another garmin cable into it.
Now, i dont want to hook it to the cig lighter because i want it to turn off with the ignition. which makes me think to tap into the radio accessory power.
is this a bad idea? or is there a better spot to pull from?
here is the specs on the plug itself
"input 10~30vdc/ max 1A
output 4.9-5.25 vdc/ 1A
fuse type 1.0A/250V"
i dont think it would pull that much, but what do i know.
Thanks
