Delco Stereo nogo
I have an 89 TA with a Delco cassette stereo that wont play. It has a display and some amplifier noises are heard, but it wont go to normal display for the radio. It displays either 1892 or something strange like that or else it displays the 1:00 hr. I need to know if this has the theft lock on it that locks me out. I have purchased a radio-code manual that didnt help at all. I would like to know if this has or doesnt have the lock so I can replace this unit if so. Thanks everyone

Re: Delco Stereo nogo
broken solder joints are very common in 3rd gen era
delco radios-if you have soldered or are familiar with
electronics repairs,clear off a workspace,take radio
apart and using an eye loupe or magnafier and a light
inspect the underside of the circuit boards for broken
solder joints-especially where a connector plugs in on
the other side, also check behind where the radio's
power and speaker plugs connect. I have fixed lots of
these radios and over 90 percent can be fixed by repair
of bad solder joints.Hardened pinch rollers are the
usuall cause of"eaten"tapes.

Re: Delco Stereo nogo
Thanks you guys for the input. I am however gonna give up on the old dead radio if it is in fact dead. I will want to know for sure if this is a stereo with Theftlock, though. I have my eyes on my new Pioneer DEH-P47 which is a 1 1/2 Din GM unit, but have other priorities before spending that money. So, how can I tell if mine even was a Theftlock radio. I went on to the radiocode place and purchased the waste of money manual info. That was no help whatsover. Can anyone tell me if I even have one Theftlock system?
