Speedo & Tach Help ASAP PLEASE!!!
So the speedometer cable was melted very bad from the exhaust manifold, so i went and got a new one. hooked it up to the tranny, ran it up and throught the rubber grommet in the dash and then screamed, cussed, yelled, pouted, and pouted some more that I couldn't get it in there, well i finally got it past that retaining pos clip back there and its in.....(you'll never guess) DING DING!!! IT DON'T WORK.....my question....Y?!?!?!? found a few tricks for working in that area so i have no problem going back in there again!
now to the next problem... when I took the gauges out to work on the speedo everything was fine. Now that i put it back in, my tach won't pick up right away. it is way off of its mark, at idle it is firmly against the pin at 0 it takes me hitting about 1000 before it picks up to about 300... is there anyway of fixing this? or do i need a new tach from the junk yard?
PLEASE HELP ME AS MY FIANCE DRIVES THIS GAS HOG TO WORK EVERYDAY... she has gotten use to the speedlimit going by the tach, but now with that about 700 short she is going to be doing 100 in a 70.... PLEASE HELP!
Thanx in Advance

Check the connections ont he back of the printed circuit board... As for the speedo... you might have ground the teeth of of the speedo gear in the trans. I have the same problem.. I go through a few gears once in a while.. the last one messed up my cable...
