Where's the VSS?

Where can I find it on my Camaro? I'm trying to install cruise control.

Tail shaft of the transmission, IIRC.

Re: Where's the VSS?

Can anyone post a picture of the VSS? I'm going to crawl under my Trans am when it gets warmer out to see whats up with my speedo and I'd like to know what it looks like specifically. Thanks.

Re: Where's the VSS?

it is round (1 1/4 inch in diameter roughly) and is in the exact same location you speedometer cable would be on the drivers side of the tranny.there is a big c-clip that holds it in place if I remember correctly, the clip is held in place by one 10 mm screw.if you are planning on removing the VSS better have a pan ready !!! when you remove it a gush of tranny fluid will follow very quickly.

Re: Where's the VSS?

this is prob bending the rules here but at least you will be able to see what the VSS looks like and where it goes.
here is a VSS,yours may look a little diff but in general it looks like this.

the 2nd link has a pic of the drivers side of the tranny.looking at the pic you will see a black round object, look behind that towards the tail shaft and you will see a round hole or opening.that is where the VSS goes and will be found.
