88 TA steering Column in 87 IROC???? Help ASAP.

Car: 05 Pontiac Sunfire, 87 Z28
Engine: 2.2 Ecotec, 350 TPI
Transmission: Auto, 700r4 with shift kit
Axle/Gears: No clue, limited slip.
88 TA steering Column in 87 IROC???? Help ASAP.
Just wondering if i could swap out my steering column in my 87 with one from an 88 trans am. Worried about the key having the security chip.
