replacing ignition switch

did some research, and all i found was something about putting a pin in a tiny hole on the face of the ignition switch while the key is in "acc" to get the cylinder out. I couldnt find a tiny pinhole anywhere, is there some other way to get the ignition cylinder out? the car is an 89 iroc... thanks for the help.

Re: replacing ignition switch

i have a 1986 camaro and i just did this last week. So i figured this will help you. You will first need a steering wheel puller. Yes you may think to much work. Its not i did mine in 30mins. There will be 2 or 3 circles where u screw the bolts in the wheel to pull it out. then after that there will be a retainer clip on what looks like a saw jagged circle. On that you will need to push in and the clip is in the center i used a screw driver to slide it out its pita. but once you get it out the will be the turn signal switch you can pull that out without unplugging it. move it to the side. You will know what i am talking about once you look at it then once that is out there will be on the right top a star type screw that the car seems to have a lot of if u have taken the dash apart you unscrew that and then put the key in the ignition and turn it. then you pull it out. then just do everything backwards to put it back in.
