car won't start.

I turn the key and does nothing. the locks work and power windows work. but doesn't try to crank over at all. I got the battery tested it is good and fully charged. I got it grouned to the alumiun head or isn't that a good ground. there is a secondary postive wire coming from the battery terminal wear does that go. does anyone new what could be wrong.

Try applying +12V to where the purple wire connects to the starter (use a fairly heavy wire). The starter should engage if it's good and your battery cable and connections are good.

I don't think aluminum conducts electricity>>> bad ground???? Positive cable from bat. goes to your starter...secondary+ wire to the fuse box?????

Turn on your lights before you try to turn the key. Do they dim/go out? if they don't you probably have a bad ignition switch. Does the key feel the same as it did before? On one of my previous Camaro's it was easier turning to the "Start" position and turned out to just be that the rod was "pushing" down the whole switch. Turned out the switch was loose on the column.

Re: car won't start.

Well ta da it was the starter switch and if i had pictures OMG it was a smoker lol. bad terminal burns bad. on a note i might put a fuse on that yellow wire :P. would that help it if it takes to much current? so it will pop instead of the ign switch.

Re: car won't start.

hey. still haven't been able to get my car to crank over yet. i turn the key and nothing happens. the lights work power locks work the back hatch work. but still nothing. i don't think the secondary postive goes to the fuses box. it looks like it was bolted to something. so not sure what is wrong with it. also there is a plug coming from the upper plemun. where is that suppose to plug in at.
