Drivers side headlight not going up, possible issues???

My 82 Trans Am has been in storage without a battery for a few months, and after putting a new one in, the driver side headlight does not flip up. The headlight does turn on however. I remember the drivers side blinker not working, however it did flash with the hazards on.

After searching, it seems like it's either the wiring, relay, or a fuse.

Judging by this wiring diagram, there is a relay for the passenger side and driver side.

Is the headlight control module the same as a relay? I don't think so, but I want to clarify.

Otherwise I may need one of these.

I spoke with a dealership, and was told there are two relays. One by the headlight motor, and one by the radiator.

Headlight Actuator Relay, made by GM
10022620 -Radiator $37.80
10031018 -On actuator, $44.81

I could not get GMPartsDirect.com to work to look up the parts.

Thanks in advance,
Lance Schaefer

It was the headlight relay under the headlight, to the front of the radiator. It wasn't a bad fix at all.

I've been having the same problem with the passenger side headlight, it comes on but doesn't come up. It used to come up like half of the time but now it wont come up at all. It sounds like its the same problem, but you mentioned two relays. Do you think it would be the relay by the radiator for the passenger side? Or does it sound like a different problem? Also i was wondering where you purchased your Relay and if you could provide a link if possible. Thanks a lot in advance

Edit: Forgot to mention that i have an 83 Firebird

Well, to find out which relay it is, switch the driver and passenger relay(The one in front of the radiator), and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, take the bad relay to a parts store, and they should have another one for you. They cost around $10-20 per side. The relay isn't protected that much from the environment, it was just sitting on the inside of the bumper.

I think this is the one I got from Advance Auto, but it's best to take in the old one to be sure.

BWD $11.29, Headlight actuator, 1 year replacement, R3230

I uploaded a file of notes I took before I found the problem. This is a useful site for wiring diagrams too.
