'87 GTA Digital Dash Non-Op
I just picked up a beautiful '87 GTA.. Everything is great except the dash does not work.. It's a digital dash. The previous owner had bought another complete digi-dash from Ebay and tried it. It still does not work..
Any ideas of what the problem can be?

To start, check all fuses. Hopefully this is the problem and you don't have a break in the wiring somewhere.

yes, check the fuses. also, is it the whole thing that doesn't work or just a couple parts? my car is pretty much all original, the cluster and dash wiring was never cut save for the radio plugs. and with that said, if the courtesy fuse blows, for some reason the speedo goes over to KM and the odometer screen desn't work, heck the speedo reads all over the place too. i replace that fuse and it's good to go.
whatever you do, don't go analog. keep the digital, it's an interesting piece of trans am history and i think it looks so cool. but many on here will quickly tell you to dump it, f*ck that, it's a lot more work than just keeping it and fixing it.

I've never seen a GTA digital dash up close, but on an
'89 chevy beretta digital dash the cluster is LCD and
there are 4 light bulbs behind the LCD panel - if these
are out (special halogen bulbs) the panel cannot be read.(the beretta cluster was made by VDO,on an'85
pontiac 6000 the cluster was made by nippondenso,
that one was a VFD cluster)

im having a similar problem. my odometer is just flashing 999999. could that be part of a blown fuse? or is it not plugged in to something correctly?

you could check the fuses, remember to check the courtesy fuse, when mine blows the odometer doesn't work. chances are though, the circuitry went bad. you may be able to find a parts cluster and just swap that board out, i dunno.
