Blown Fuse?

Hey, I was driving home from school today and while I was listening to the radio, it just shut off. You could hear a slight click right before it happened. I noticed a little later that my power locks didnt work anymore either. The car is an 84 Trans Am, and the radio is an aftermarket sony x-plod if it matters.

I'm thinking its a blown fuse, but I'm wondering if the radio and the locks would be running on the same one? It doesnt seem very likely, but Its weird that they both died at the same time. Maybe some master fuse or something went. The headlights, windows, and wipers all still work but those run on motors so I dont know.

If anyone could give me any advice on this, it'd be great, also if you think the problem could be something else, I'm open ears.

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Blown Fuse?

Why not just LOOK at the fuses & see if one's blown? Would have been easier than signing in here and typing all this.

Re: Blown Fuse?

If your horn or dome light don't work either, check the ACC fuse, it's likely the one that's blown.

One very common reason for the ACC fuse blowing is change (coins) in the cigarette lighter. I'd look in there first. You can search for "ACC fuse" and I'm sure you'll get plenty of hits on this fuse blowing and troubleshooting. I see a few posts a week.

Thanks alot! I noticed last night the dome light doesnt work, and noticed today that the hord doesnt work either. I think it may have blown while the cigarette lighter was engaged, so maybe with the radio on and the cigarette lighter engaged it could have overloaded it. Thanks though, you really helped me out on this.
