Really can't figure this out need help with wiring.
My 1986 trans am i bought the pervious owner put in a new camshaft and ignition they cut out the electronic ignition just leaving wires in the back of the engine bay. After they did that the speedometer stopped working, and I don't know if i need to change the ignition back or is there something else i can do to get the speedometer to work this has been going on for 3 weeks now. The vss buffer is still hooked up all wires are good into it and it has ground and power, and the ecm is still hooked up, but i'm lost I can't figure out what I need to do to get that damn speedometer working. If anyone out there knows anything about this issue please get back to me. Does the wiring under the hood back against the fire wall have anything to do with the speedometer, or do the 2 brown wires that come out of the vss buffer box.
I've heard that the 2 brown wires are not needed, that the purple, yellow, black and white, pink and black, and green and black are needed to run your speedometer. Could my VSS be bad and there no signal coming from the transmission. Well if anyone has had the same issue or any insight on the issue let me know, so I will know where to start.
