Turn Signal Problem

How's it going guys, I just became the proud owner of an 88 Iroc a couple weeks ago. I've been going through it fixing stuff here and there, it was sitting in storage for 5 years so it's got some issues. One thing is the blinkers, the right side works fine but the left doesn't blink it just stays on. I think the bulbs are good cause they light up, just no blinking.

Thanks!!!

Re: Turn Signal Problem

probaly just some corrosion in one of the sockets or a bad bulb . try emer. flasher , should help finding bad one . none are a breeze to get at , rears are worst . you need to remove inner panels & tailight housing to get at them . suggest you get a tube of die-electric grease . after cleaning socket & and bulb apply a lite coat on both . one tube ( tooth paste size ) will last a life time . ( or untill you mis-place it like me ) good luck .

I just tried the emergency flashers, the rear left side didn't blink. So hopefully changing that bulb will fix it. Thanks!!!

Oh ya, to get the rear tail light off is it just the screws on the top?

Re: Turn Signal Problem

raise hatch , remove interior plastic panels behind tailights , you will see large plastic wing nuts that hold housings in place . use wd-40 or what ever on them to remove , don't try to remove screws on top of tailights . if car has been setting for 5 + yrs. as you say you may want to invest in a gallon of wd-40 . then pour into spray bottles . you will use plenty bringing the old girl back to active life . hope you have her rolling soon . good luck .

Re: Turn Signal Problem

Ahh okay. That's what those plastic wing nuts are for. Even after sitting for 5 years the car is tight. It was repainted not too long ago, new Torque Thrust rims/tires, new shocks/struts, I tuned it up, & a new EGR valve. It's a red 88 Iroc-Z 5.7L auto, t-tops, with only 93k miles. I just have to recharge the A/C, and now the heater core is leaking so that'll be my next project. I've always loved F bodies, I've got a 67 RS/SS 350 4 speed that I've had for 10 years now. I used to have a red 96 LT1 Vette, and a 02 Z06 pushing 400+ hp to the wheels. When I found the Iroc I thought it'd be a fun project, my mom had a red 89 Iroc Vert when I was 12 so it brings back memories.

Thanks again!
