Did you change the correct Flasher unit??? There are two under the dash, one for the turn signals & the other for the emgr. flashers. So take another look this the problem in almost all cases of slow flashers.

Re: slow blinkers

I have the same problem with my '91 Z. Blinkers are pretty slow, and are a bit random, on both sides. All the bulbs flash bright, too. It's a bit annoying, but seems to be an easy fix for the most part!

Re: slow blinkers

My signals were really slow flashing also on my '86 trans am, I replaced the flasher unit and they flash like normal now, so that is definitely the first place I would suggest checking, @threeohfive: not sure about your setup, but my turn signal flasher and hazard flasher relays were located in the convenience center drivers side right side of column under the dash on left side of radio area, if you turn your turn signals on you should hear where the flasher is.

Re: slow blinkers

See...I actually WANT a slower flasher. Mine flashes too fast.

What flasher do you have? I need to find a slower flasher. 2 actually, Turn & Hazard, but mainly the Turn one.

Re: slow blinkers

BadGumba...I see you are near Austin. North? South? East? West? I'm NW & would be happy to meet up & trade my too-fast-for-me flasher for your too-slow-for-you flasher.

Re: slow blinkers

mine both work but they seem to get tired of blinking after a few seconds! lol. when I put my blinkers on they blink at normal speed then start slowing down until the blinker just stops blinking & stays on. any idea what it could be?

Re: slow blinkers

Also check to be sure you have the correct bulbs installed, and they are all working. Flasher units correlate with with the bulb wattage. For example, your flasher will cycle faster when one bulb goes out, because it is not pulling enough power.

If you have a power drain, extra bulbs in the circuit, or bulbs pulling more than the recommended wattage for the system, this will slow your flasher.

However, sometimes it can be a flasher unit. I always replace mine with the heavy duty electro-mechanical units when they go out... they last 5x longer.

Re: slow blinkers

Well my car just died while i was driving and doesn't turn over anymore. so Im assuming my blinked problem had to do with either the battery or alternator being bad
