SES light does not come on with key forward

SES light does not come on with key forward
I have been trouble shooting this one for a bit and have run into dead ends. This may be connected to my other post of the E wire on the ALDL not being connected to anything. I disconnect the ECM and the SES light comes on, connect the ECM the light goes out. With the ECM connected I can pull a code 12 out of it but nothing else. Any thoughts. Thanks

Sorry to bring up an old thread but i am experiencing the exact same thing. I have a 87 trans am TPI. Anyone have an idea what it could be? It also comes on briefly when going over bumps but when checked only throws 12.
Should also note that if i disconnect the batter for about 20 seconds and hook it back up it works normally.
