vats removal help
hey quick question i have a 89 firebird I am attempting to remove the vats module from however I have hit a minor roadblock the other day after removing the vats box i applied power then ground through a 2.37k resistor to the B6 connector and the car started and ran fine so I built a simple relay to do the samething however now I am unable to get it to start. any help would be great.
Thanks,

Re: vats removal help
there is more to removing a vats than taking off the module. USE THE SEARCH FOR VATS!
simply put - here is how it works.
you turn on the key and electricity goes to the computer. the computer loads in everything and says - OH IM SUPPOSED TO LOOK FOR A VATS.
so the computer sends a signal to the vate. now the vats sends a signal to your key to see of the resistor is there. if it does not get the right signal back it does nothing.
nothing is the default and by not sending an ok to the computer the computer shuts down and you cant start it again for 5 monutes, at which time it happens all over again.
so you see taking out the vats module only insures that the computer will not get the go signal.
you are not getting the go signal.

Re: vats removal help
as of right now I can crank it with a standard key however the issue is that I have no idea how to trick the ecm into thinking that it should enable the fuel system I notice on the vats diagram in technical articles a 5v refence voltage on that wire
