P/O played master electrician with my radio

So, I've had my '87 Iroc optioned with the delco/bose system (which has since been annihilated) for a few weeks now and have been working my way through giving everything a close examination. I pulled the aftermarket headunit that had been installed, only to find a rats' nest of wiring behind it. Including but not limited to: cut wires with bare ends, wires spliced together with packing tape,... After removing everything that appeared to be a product of the P/O, it appears the factory harness/connector is absent. I'm left with the wires shown in the pic(s). In the second pic, the pink wire near the end of my ring finger is also cut (seems to run along with the orange above it for some of its journey). Can somebody please give me some direction as to the best route to salvage this mess?? Thanks.

Re: P/O played master electrician with my radio

I've tracked down what most of the wires are in the pictures bundle, but I believe I'm missing the rear speaker wires and I don't know what's going on with the connector in the 2nd pic. I guess my current plan is to find a 'theft' harness (that's what it was called in another thread....factory side and wire it up to what I have). The idiot who had the car before me had the front speaker wires spliced onto speaker wire and connected to 6.5's in the rear hatch, unbelievable.

I dont know of a diagram for premium audio for 3rd gens, but heres the standard radio diagram

Since the PO played havoc on the system already, you can just about bet the factory stuff is history, grab a uncut factory harness (any year fbody will do) and go from there

Re: P/O played master electrician with my radio

Thanks for the reply. I've been digging some more and part of the reason I was so confused is that the idiot before me cut more than just the radio wires. I just found out tonight that he has cut the connector off of the gear selector switch, so I've got another 5-6 wires to figure out (as well as finding that connector as well). This weekend I'm going to pull all of the interior and trace wires to make sure he didn't get his wire clipping paws on anything else out of sight. I've got a Helm manual, so tracking down most of the wiring isn't a big problem, but the wires that seem to dead end are causing me grief.

Thanks. Those are all helpful, I'll be using that link to help when I put things together once the pigtail I ordered arrives. Meanwhile I get to play with the rigged started wire and others...!
