In both of my Camaros, my cig lighter will burn out the fuse that the back latch, dome light, anyway there are more features that are on this fuse than I can remember. I gutted the lighter so this won't happen, but is it the push in, or the receiver?

 

sounds like your cig lighter is shorting out. Just open your center console and unplug the wiring from the back. Its a very common issue with 3rd gens. And yes all your interior lighting and stereo are connected on the same circuit...

 

I think what happened is I pushed the lighter in and it stayed in. When the fuse was blown, I checked and the whole area was warm from the darn thing.

 

As far as I've seen in my 1992 Camaro, there's nothing special about the lighter - so you can replace the whole unit with any $7 standard lighter assembly from any auto parts store.

 

I'll give it a try. I don't know if you read it but I got mad and gutted the lighter (removed the element), and jb welded it back together. All that time I wondered why GM would put so many other features on one fuse.
