Starter and Dual Fan Wiring
Hey guys im planning on going from tpi to carb and was wondering if you guys would know the wire color for the startor (from the ignition switch to the starter) because i have a painless wiring harness and the starter wires are built in with the tune port harness which im getting rid of. so i wondering which color wire i need to run from the switch or where the switch is for that matter. the switch is also known as the neutral saftey switch rite? cause thats bypassed with the yellow connected to the purple. thanks a lot guys
Also..with the dual fan setup, how would i wire that up as well? can i run a toggle switch with power from the battery going to the switch and on the "on" side of the switch have the fans hooked up to it and so on and so forth. thanks a lot guys

Re: Starter and Dual Fan Wiring
On the fan (and anything else that uses alot of juice) you want to use relays under the hood. You get 12v from the fusebox to the switch, then from the switch to a relay under the hood. Then run large wire from battery to relay to fan - when you turn on the switch, it powers the relay, making power to the fan available from the battery.
You might want to look into a seperate fan controller, so that your fans come on automatically when needed. They are nice, come with a probe that goes to radiator to turn fan on at an adjustable temp, and can be controlled manually with in-cabin switches as well - all in one easy to install unit.
It sounds like you are totally removing your TPI wiring to sell the harness? The only part that is exclusively TPI would be the wiriing harness on the pass side - I think everything on the driver side is just standard, and thus no need to remove it and rewire it all - thus your starter and such will still work just like stock off the stock wires, saving you the trouble of rewiring the whole car. But, I'm no TPI expert. It just seems like alot of work rewiring the whole car - it's not necessary just for a TPI to Carb swap.

Well im not rewiring the whole car, its jus tht i need the fuel pump, fans and starter wires all figured out because all of tht is built into my painless harness which is built in with the whole tpi setup which im getting rid of so i either have to find the old wires or make my own
