TPS issues
To anyone having problems with TPS setting being erratic this is for you.
Replace the Pig Tail going to the TPS. I had problems getting the volts set on my TPS over and over and was at the point I was going to spend the money on a new TPS and decided to replace the Pig Tail and that solved the problem and saved me a bunch of money.
I spend hours one night trying to get the TPS set to .55 volts. Could not get it close. Spend so much time adjusting it i about stripped the head off from the screws. Any way, it was hot when I was doing this and so were the wires. I let it set for 12 hours and tried to set it when it was cold. and it took about 30 seconds. drove it for a while and same thing began throwing codes and could not get it set back. this was very frustrating as it would run great for a while and then throw codes. I am not sure if it was bc it was hot or bc the wires in the pig tail were moving or what.
I talked to the parts store and then said there is a pigtail and usually when they offer a new pigtail there is a reason for this. new pigtail is like 8 bucks. much less than new TPS and you would end up buy a new pigtail anyways.
Go get em fellow thirdgens. Also, I just want to say thanks, this site has been a godsend in tuning my bird (1989 formula 350). I actually found the site before I bought my car and am not sure i would have bought it I I had not found the side. Helped make the decision to buy it. To some of the veterns on this side, I wonder how you get to know so much but am thankful you do and are so willing to part with the info.
