Coolant Temp Sensor Woes
Hey guys. So Ive had this melted sensor dangling under my car for a bit and just established its the cts. I cut the dangling sensor off which looks like this:

I went out and got a new cts which has a 2 wire plug. this broken piece of a sensor seems to use only 1?
I still have the brass(?) piece in my head right near the dipstick which I assume is the other half of my cts?
If I remove the metal piece from the head and put the new sensor in, how can I wire it? I'm not very good at electrical crap, plus I'm at school so tools, space and money are limited....
Is one wire just a ground? How can I get a new "plug" to go into the sensor?
Help please!
EDIT- 89 305 tpi...
Also the car is definitely running rich which is why I'm trying this.... Before i bought the car my buddy had it, and he said the fans stopped working... He hardwired the fans to turn on, but now I'm getting confused as to whether this isa cts or a fan switch or what...
Double Edit: also my temp guage in the car does work. But when I turn the key to On, I dont get an overheating light as my haynes manual says I should...

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going Backwards
When you see fog or “running” lights on in good weather beware. Low performance driver ahead.
How bout those nitwits too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime,
and the nitwits that need headlights for a little rain

That connector is for your Cooling fan switch on the passenger side of the block

Re: Coolant Temp Sensor Woes
One above is coolant outlet to TB
One to left is cold start switch used on early intakes with cold start injector.Late intakes don't have this hole drilled
Not mine ; just a pic I grabbed
