Well think about it for a second: (I'm using a lot of estimating here) There's the wiring to all your guages, which has about 40 wires going into it (if it's speedometer isn't run by a cable), the wiring from your steering column which should be about 16 wires maybe, the couple of wires for your brake lights when you push on the brake petal, the wiring for the stereo which should be about 14 wires, the wiring for your A/C and heater controls, which I think would be about 8 wires, the ECM is back there, the Bendix, and if you have an automatic there's a computer for the tranny, (so that would be like 80 million wires
) If you have cruise control, there's a module for that as well. The lights that go behind to anything that lights up, so in all honesty, you won't know how many until you go under there and start counting yourself, and good luck with that.

Re: Behind dash wiring?
I have removed the dash harness before but is only one big a$$ harness with Around 150 to 250 wires it sucks taking them out .you have to gut the interior to the back seats
Re: Behind dash wiring?
and if you have an automatic there's a computer for the tranny
Airbag control IS however a separate piece and likely what you're thinking of
My suggestion to the OP is to leave the dash harness alone. It is extremely complicated
The dash harness is back there. Depending on year and options, various module are attached but contained within the harness itself such as airbag, cruise, VSS buffer etc
Separate harnesses are for the HVAC box, cruise, power seats, power door functions, overhead light (90-92 cars included the 3rd brake light), and rear light harness

No, lockup control is housed within the ECM. It is not a separate unit

Yellow connectors and yellow wrapped wiring are signals of airbag wiring
You do realize that if you are ever in a wreck your insurance can simply refuse to pay out because you removed safety equipment right?
