Taillights causing battery drain? Anyone?
Over the course of the 3 years I've owned my 91 FB, there has been a few occasions where it seemed like a burned out taillight bulb or an improperly seated bulb will cause my battery to drain very fast.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if there is any reason why this would happen.
I have figured out it is the taillights on every occasion because I have either disconnected the harness or checked the bulbs and that seems to stop the drain.
So every time I have a dead battery I know there's an issue with the taillights. Either that or it's a freak occurance!
No immediate concern, just want to generate some discussion I guess.

In my experience there is usually a high probability that faulty exterior light wiring will drain the battery.
Most times it has been a wet short to ground. However most times it was headlights.
It's actually the first place I look when I face the issue of battery drain. Make sure all connections are dry and tight. Then eliminate from there.
Hope this helps.
