i am tring to wire the dome light in my 86 camaro and i have a aftermarket wiring harness that has a white wire for the dome light. i still have the door switch and the plug for the dome piece. i still have part of the white and orange wire for both. how would i wire this up as well as tying in the light switch in to it.

 

Does the new dome light have a switch on it?

If yes, do you want to use that switch instead of the one on the headlight switch?

i still have the stock dome light and the switch that is for the door i was just wondering how to hook both the door switch and the head light switch up with the one wire i got with the harness

 

You can connect the new white wire to the ground common point of the door switches - “courtesy” - map light.

Those wires are white.

With an ohmmeter you can verify the factory connections are intact.

so i would hook up to the my wire from the harness to the orange wire of the door switch and would i do the same for the white wire of of the headlight switch
