cd changer options
when i got my bird in December i knew immediately that i wanted to pull the the stock caset player install a new stereo that could play cds. but i figured id wait till i got her running rite and ready to go on the road. and while working on her over the winter i got bored on day and started to play with the stereo to see what would come in. in the gully/valley i live in most stereos only get 1 station 98.9 the buzz. but this old car stereo got in a new station on every notch. amazing!
most i have never even heard of. so now im not so sure i want to get rid of it.but i still want to be able to play my cds. so what i was wondering is if theirs any way to piggyback a cd changer to the stock stereo? i could probably put 1 in the center console. any suggestions what i should get? i have a tight budget but my birthday is a week from sunday so i mite be able to con someone into helping me pay for a cd changer

"Back in the day" I installed the same type of CD changer in 3 of my different rides. The rear hatch is where the CD Changer box got mounted in all the Camaros. It always seemed to be the safest place for it - most were 12 disk changers and big so my options were limited.
It was important me to keep the factory deck in place and CD's sounded GREAT compared to cassettes, even if cassettes could take more abuse !
I've got a Pioneer CD changer I could sell, Are you lookin' for a 6 or 12 disk changer ??

im not sure what size id want all i know is want to be able to play cds and still keep the stock cassette deck. i dont think id put it in the the trunk area. id want to keep it up front somewhere.

If you want it up front somewhere than your probably best off with a 6 disk due to the size. I liked it in the back because the only time I needed to touch them is when I was swapping new CD's into the cartridge..... all control is done with a remote so there's no need to keep the box close. ( but there's pleanty of wire for installing anywhere ! )
