Shift light + buzzer

I just finished wiring up my custom dash panel, including a shift light. However, I also want to wire up a buzzer to go along with the shift light, so that the buzzer will go off if I go too far over my target RPM's.

Would this be possible to do?

Could I somehow take a "pill" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-5356/ and use it to wire up a buzzer to come on at a specific RPM?

Re: Shift light + buzzer

why? what you you tell a hot chick riding with you when the buzzer goes off. i think it'd be pretty obvious if you were redlining the motor. the light should do the trick, especially if you got the led lights

I'm not sure how "obvious" it's going to be when the light goes off. I'm sure I'll have no problem seeing it at night, but I'm not sure about during the day. That's the reason behind it

Mine doesn't have an LED, it's just a single bulb. If I knew what bulb to replace it with I'd definitely do that

Tuff Pill To Swallow

The pill contains a resistor.

It won’t do anything by itself.

You can wire on op-amp to the shift light in the dash, and have the op-amp operate a buzzer.
