power lock conversion (keyless entry question)
I've got an idea... somebody tell me if there's a reason it won't work
I would like to add power locks to one or both of my doors, but NOT add the button on the door panel, just the actuator on the inside
The purpose of this is to have keyless entry on a three button contoller. One Unlock button, one lock button, and then one button for the Hatch.
I was thinking about this unit.

I know from an extra door I have that if I apply 12v to one of the actuator wires, it locks, and if I touch the other wire with 12V, it unlocks.
Obviously, if I touch the hatch wires, the hatch pops
So, if the unit I linked to pulses a 12v current when I push the button on the remote, I can wire it directly to the doors and hatch, and I'm good to go.
That is how they work right? I've never messed with keyless entry before
I was going to take the actuator and linkage out o my extra door for the drivers side, but I'll have to find a second setup for the passenger side, if I choose to do it. I could always add it later if the drives side works as planned

The remote actuators I have used are bi-directional
One way 12v+ is up and the other is down
Can't answer you question until I see your JC link

that's odd... they must not like remote linking..
http://www.jcwhitney.com/remote-cont.../p2001394.jcwx
if that doesn't work, do a search on JC whitney for keyless entry, and it's the one that sells for $38.26

I really cant tell you how they work but, I had the same thing your thinking about doing installed in to my camaro. I had the autopage alarm installed with keyless entry with NO door switches. If I arm the car then they lock (driver and passenger), but only if I arm it. If I want to lock the doors with out the alarm being active I use the manual lock lever.

Re: A Remote Possibility
that's so strange... I wonder why it doesn't like the link I copied and pasted...
I was jsut making sure that these work on the sytem of when you push the button on the transmitter, the brain shoots a 12V pulse to the right wire. If that's the case, I'm golden
