Lost spark, checked coil, changed ICM, checked distributor, seems it is nothing mechanical. The suggestion is that the VATs may be acting up. If so, will getting a chip burned that bypasses VATS solve that problem?

There could be a bad ignition module or the blastercoil thats not working as it should to.. check the ignition module in your distributor.. also, is your battery 100% fully charged, try charging it over night and see if it gets better..

 

Will look at it. Not being into redoing the electrical, I was hoping the chip would accomplish the same thing. Thanks for the heads up on that site.

 

If the car even tries to start (starter working), then it's NOT VATS. VATS disables total start function.

 

btw, your SECURITY light does that shutdown after some seconds or does it stay ON all the time ? Cause if VATS is working properly it will turn off the SECURITY light in your dash (when correct key is inserted) if it stays on, VATS is failing.

 

The car turns over, so must be something other than VATS. I will recheck the ignition parts.

Download the correct .zip file for your engine, and test it.
