Blower relay on non ac?

Did the factory non ac cars use a relay for the heater blower or is it run direct from the switch?
Guess I am wondering if I can eliminate the relay after ac delete conversion. I have the non ac wiring and doesn't appear to have used a relay.

They ran it from the switch.

You can eliminate the relay however GM might have used a lower current rated speed switch for the HEATER ONLY models due to the fact the relay draws only a tiny fraction of the current, therefore you might burnout the switch.

Also, 16 AWG wire is used verses 14 AWG, therefore the hi speed might run a bit slower due to voltage drop.

Re: Relay Race

After closer inspection it looks to me like the relay only powers the blower at the HIGH switch position on AC models.

This is true.

That’s where the max current draw is.
