87 TA eye's won't shut D:

hey guys, my 87 TA's eyes won't shut after i turn them off(stuck in up position). i checked the motor and turns out the driver side motor is gone and probably the guide is gone too. After i put in a "new" used guide and a motor they are still not cooperating. My old guide can only make them go up, but won't shut it and the "new" one can only shut it once i connect the wires and that's about it. Please help

sounds like it could be a couple things, either your headlight switch is bad, and doesnt recognize that they are supposed to go down after turning off, or your headligth relay has gone bad. there may be some other possibilities from others who know more about it than I do, but those would be my guesses.

The headlight motor control unit is on the firewall,it might be part of the problem. If you know that the headlight motors work 100% then I would start looking at the control module..of the headlight switch itself.

First get yourself a battery ..drill battery works great, unplug the headlight motors.Take 2 pieces of wire and plug it into the headlight motor directly and the other end connect each wire to the battery terminals. It will power the motor up or down, then reverse the wires and try again ..this will show you if the motors are in working order and eliminate that issue.

Second easiest thing to check is the headlight switch in the dash with a multimeter or testlight. If that checks out good then move to the control module and check that the signal from the switch is working as it should at the module itself. If that is still good then you know you need the module.

All else fails..manually turn the headlights down with the **** on the motors directly..it sucks but thats why they are there incase of emergency :S

k here's where i stand now...
the motor is perfectly fine, checked them over today.
the guide i mentioned is the module... right now i have 2 on my hand, the original can only make them go up, not down. the "new" one makes the lights go down once i connect the wires to the module itself, it doesn't do anything after that...
